MY WORK
I am a psychological anthropologist, visual anthropologist, and Southeast Asianist. I conduct fieldwork with Hmong communities in countries including Thailand, Vietnam, China, France, and the United States. More recently, I have also undertaken ethnographic research on social movements in Northern Ireland and the American Southwest. My comparative work addresses theoretical topics ranging from morality and ethics to social change and conflict. I research and write on religion and ritual practice, social/political/religious movements, transnationalism, social change, life course development, health and healing, migration and diaspora, personhood and self.
